Unemployed America

Today I got to experience something like never before. I got to hear the sound of 800 terrified weeping voices. This was not a pleasant experience. The company president came out of her office to schedule a meeting with the entire job site. Many things are running through your head at this point, but you try to remain positive. As she drags the poorly made speaker and microphone to the center of the group she says, “I have a very difficult message to deliver today. Unfortunately the company no longer feels that this site is viable. I am very sorry to announce that your jobs will no longer be available. Today I am announcing to you that this site and its employers are no longer employed with *********, I am very sorry.” She then scurried back into the offices from which she came.
800 terrified employees were weeping all around me. The looks upon their faces showed fear, sadness, anger, and confusion. Even the managers were outraged by such a poor handling of this. Not a one person received forewarning. All of the employees were strung along not more than three months back when the company made quite a different announcement. Three months earlier the company stated that they were doing great, and were proud of their hard efforts. The drive home was worse. I knew that I would have to deliver this message to my family, but how?
Upon the drive home, you are merely thinking about how many people will be flooding the job postings on CareerBuilder and monster. The race for another job is almost more terrifying than breaking the news to your family. You get home to your lovely wife and children, and explain that you may not have the opportunity to keep your apartment no longer. This was the place that your family had experienced laughter together, cheerful days, and now excruciating sadness. Your family looks at you, the leader, with concern. You sit down for dinner that evening wondering if you will have the luxury of watching cable television any longer. The first television show you turn on is about the fantastic celebrity life, as she sips a cocktail. The Victoria Secret fashion show has appeared in front of your eyes. The audience is filled with people able to afford their next meal. Their bank accounts are lined with pleasure. You never had the opportunity to save up funds for such a hard time. For the last 5 years, you have been trying to survive by living off of hamburger helper, and hot dogs.
This is the reality of the American lives. Yes the middle class is fading to one rock bottom class of America. This is the real experiences that are going on every day. If you are one of these members of society, then I say “cheers” to you for hopes of a better day. The constitution was filled with fairness and equality, but let us examines society once more. This may sound like a make believe horror story to some, but this is an unfortunate reality to many. We will struggle, and fight together. Join me and the many like us as we get to do the one thing we can to fight back. We can bleed our pain onto this modern day paper. Here it is America, the “truth”! Yet another 800 jobless, homeless, lifeless group of individuals can be added to the list. I am sad to say that my name has been added amongst the “black listed” of society! If my post can reach one individual then it was worth writing. Examine this in comfort good sir as you are definitely not alone!!
